The Praat scripting language is a programming language, a simple one but a programming language nonetheless. Therefore, running Praat by scripts is tantamount to computer programming. In my experience, this presents a significant barrier for many Praat users As you proceed through the tutorial all the basic principles of scripting (conditionals, loops, variables etc.) will be covered and explained. If you have scripting or even programming experience you should consider another approach towards learning Praat scripting, because reading through this tutorial most of the time you'll be bored. The chapter on files in the Praat Scripting Tutorial is one that I think is actually a bit lacking.
